Join paste-up Queen Hello The Mushroom and turn old magazines into art!
Hello The Mushroom shares some of her best tips and tricks for creating colourful, highly-visible street art using the age-old paste-up technique.
From 19th century circus posters to Shepard Fairey´s infamous Obey Giant campaign, paste-ups have been an important part of various subcultures and art movements for well over a century.
Typically, the paste-up is created by the artist in their own home or studio prior to being transferred to the walls. For this workshop, old magazines and newspapers will provide the inspiration for new artworks which will then be glued either onto temporary boards inside Strykejernet or on walls in the nearby area.
Hello the Mushroom is an artist from Lisbon, currently based in Oslo. Her work can be found on the streets and in galleries in cities all over the world. The artist is interested in the idea of transforming existing materials by utilising objects that would be otherwise discarded or considered surplus. As such, most of the work uses found imagery, mainly printed media and features mostly a personal exploration of subjects such as life, death, and cultural expectations towards women, often in a humorous way.
Covid-19: Street Art Oslo is the responsible organizer, and will hold our events in accordance with current infection control measures based on Oslo City Council advice and rules for public events.
